Community Safety Concerns
Local residents along the Broadways stretch of Waiyaki Way have consistently raised concerns about road safety. Many say this specific section of the road poses serious risks due to:
- Poor lighting during the night
- Lack of footbridges or designated pedestrian crossings
- Absence of clearly marked turning points
These issues have made the area particularly dangerous for pedestrians attempting to cross the dual carriageway during evening hours and late-night traffic.
Call for Action
Members of the community are urging relevant authorities to take immediate action to improve safety along this part of Waiyaki Way. Residents are specifically calling for:
- Installation of brighter, more effective street lighting
- Construction of footbridges or zebra crossings
- Clear marking of turning and stopping points
They believe these measures will significantly reduce accidents and help protect both motorists and pedestrians.
Public Advisory
Pedestrians and drivers who use the Broadways section of Waiyaki Way are advised to exercise heightened caution, especially during nighttime when visibility is low. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident, and more updates will follow once further information becomes available.
